What revenue do I need to qualify for business funding?

The 60-second answer

The floor is $60,000 a year for revenue-based financing and $300,000 a year (or $25,000 a month) for a bank-style line of credit or term loan. Two industries carry their own numbers: local freight trucking needs $200,000 a year, and commercial construction needs $500,000 a month. Revenue is read from your business bank statements, not your tax return.

Minimum revenue by program

ProgramMinimum revenueHow it is measured
Bank-style line of credit or term loan$300,000 a year, or $25,000 a month8+ deposits a month
Revenue-based financing$60,000 a yearMeasured on bank statements, not tax returns
Revenue-based — trucking$200,000 a yearLocal freight only; also needs 3 years and a contract with a major shipper
Revenue-based — construction$500,000 a monthCommercial and institutional only; also needs 5 years, 10+ deposits, a commercial location

How much you can actually get

Revenue sets the ceiling as well as the floor. A bank-style term loan is capped at 15% of your annual revenue — a business doing $500,000 a year tops out near $75,000 on that product regardless of credit. A line of credit runs $10,000 to $350,000 with a $10,000 minimum draw, and a term loan $10,000 to $250,000.

Deposit count matters as much as the total

Bank-style programs want 8 or more deposits a month. Construction wants 10 or more. A business that invoices monthly and receives four large deposits can miss on deposit count while clearing the revenue number comfortably — that is one of the most common declines we see, and it is fixable by depositing as you collect rather than in batches.

Common questions

Can I qualify with $5,000 a month in revenue?
$5,000 a month is $60,000 a year, which is exactly the floor for revenue-based financing. You would also need 6 months in business and a 600 score.
Do you use gross revenue or net profit?
Gross deposits into the business bank account. Profit is not part of the revenue test.
Does revenue from a second business count?
Only if it deposits into the same account being underwritten. Separate entities are underwritten separately.
How many months of statements do you need?
Three months for most programs, and three months for a renewal. Financial statements are requested above $250,000, or above $300,000 on a multi-renewal.

Why we publish these

These are our requirements. Most sites answering this question give you a range and a "contact us for details" — because publishing a real threshold means being held to it. We would rather you know before you apply whether you clear the bar, so the numbers above are the actual ones an application is measured against, not a marketing range. They are reviewed on the dates below and updated here when they change.
